This is Ros Koch’s first exhibition in her country of origin, and - appropriately - is staged in the town of her birth.

The exhibition is being held at Averys Wine Cellars, not only one of the oldest businesses in Bristol (it happens to be celebrating its 225th anniversary this year) but also a business started by Ros' forefathers (her maiden name is Avery). 

The title of the exhibition is “Appellation” is a word that’s heavily connected with the wine industry. It denotes origin or provenance. As someone who has both changed her name and moved home and country, Ros has had a lot of time to consider the question of identity and origin, on a personal level as well as a broader one. As such, it seemed a fitting theme that ties together the body of art that is on show - a retrospective collection that encapsulates both Ros’ diverse skills and interests, as well as her non-linear life path thus far.
